Dr. Shabbir Ahmed
Dr Shabbir received his first Master of Arts Degree in 1985 in the area of Shahadat ul Aalamiyah from the Board of Islamic Education, Multan, Pakistan. He then received Master Degrees, from the University of Sind, Pakistan, in 1986, in the area of Arabic/Islamic Studies and then he received M.Phil Degrees in 1988, in the Islamic Culture from the University of Sind.
In 1991, he received his first PhD in Islamic Studies from the Jaamiat ul Uloom il Islamiyah, Karachi, Pakistan, followed by a PhD in Islamic Culture from the University of Sind, Pakistan.
Apart from being on the Shari`ah Advisory Board of ICFAL, Dr Shabbir’s other memberships include but not limited to:

Member of NHMRC (National Health & Medical Research Council);

Dr. Abu Umar Faruq Ahmad
Dr. Faruq chairs the Shari`ah Advisory Board in ICFAL. He is Associate Professor of Islamic Law of Transactions at UBD School of Business and Economics. He has received his first degree in Sharī‘ah from Islamic University of Madinah in 1984. Then he obtained the LLM (Hons.) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the Faculty of Laws of the University of Western Sydney (UWS), Australia. Based on a high quality dissertation he submitted for his LLM, he was awarded a prestigious University of Western Sydney Postgraduate Research Award (UWSPRA) Scholarship. His PhD dissertation was also of high quality for which he was awarded High Distinction. Both of these dissertations have since been published. Prior to joining UBD in 2015, he has been an Associate Professor at INCEIF, The Global University of Islamic Finance, Senior Researcher at International Sharī‘ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), Kuala Lumpur; and Assistant Professor at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, Dubai. He has also taught for several years at Amity College (formerly Sule College), Sydney; and worked as Islamic Advisor at Bangladesh Islamic Centre of NSW Inc., Sydney. He has 30 years of substantial experience in teaching, research, community counselling, advising in Sharī‘ah compliance of Islamic banks (IBs) and Islamic financial service providers (IFSPs), editing refereed journals, reviewing journal articles and Sharī‘ah standards, multi-lingual translation, and leading vibrant Muslim community in multicultural Australia. He has over 40 refereed journal articles (published or accepted for publication), several books, chapters in edited books, conference proceedings, and a significant number of other published intellectual contributions to his credit. In addition, he has presented over 50 scholarly contributions at international conferences held in USA, Ireland, Australia, UAE, North Cyprus, Brunei, Qatar, Sudan, Nigeria, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Pakistan. His current editorial roles include serving as founding editor, senior editor, co-editor, editorial advisory board member of a plethora of internationally reputed refereed journals including some of those with high impact factors and published by Emerald Group Publishing, UK.
